VFP.Next?

Ken Levy, VS Data Group Manager (Microsoft) has stated that, there would be enhancements after Visual FoxPro 9.0.

While we do have plans to enhance Visual FoxPro after we release Visual FoxPro 9.0, we have not yet decided on what it will be called, what features will exist, what the schedule is, etc. We will review feedback over the several months and then preview some of our enhancement plans sometime in the first half of 2005.

Visual FoxPro 9.0 now available via MSDN Subscriptions

Visual FoxPro 9.0 is now available for download to MSDN Subscribers via MSDN Subscriber Downloads. Visual FoxPro 9.0 full and upgrade versions will be available approximately February 2005 and can currently be pre-ordered at http://FoxToolbox.com and http://FoxShop.de.

Fox good in data, what about music?

As we know, Visual FoxPro can handle data very well. It is fast like a bullet. However, Can it play music? Is Visual FoxPro a "music dummy"?

Godzilla and Fox

Great news! VFP9 will be officially completed and released on tomorrow, 17th Dec 2004. This news is brought by Ken Levy, MS VS Data Group Manager who had been "dissapeared" on internet for few months. He described his back is
like Godzilla when he was not seen or heard until an big event occurred (in this case the release of Visual FoxPro 9.0) woke him up.
More news on tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Creating a VFP application as a service:

Yap, tip from Calvin Hsia again. This time, he blogs how to create a VFP application as service using Windows Resource Kit Tool.

In fact, it is not anything new, we can get this information from UT FAQ# 7636 since long time ago. However, Calvin suggests to call an external PRG from service application to have service’s behavior dynamically. That is the power of VFP's PRG!! This approach is widely used by VFP WebRAD framework such as AFP and ActiveVFP.
